Our Dan and Dave / Theory 11 contest video submission. Chris Hestnes performs the moves, and Allan Hagen does the technical stuff. Just the way they like it.

Either way, it was brilliant!

Wow, that is a thing of beauty. Allan, you got some maaaaaaad editing skills. :-O

My only comments would be to have some more original moves, and some more big-impact dynamic sort of moves. :-)

Amazing job, everything about it is beautiful. The shots, locations, card handling, editing, music, etc. :-D

this shud be 5/5.... people are so mean. wouldnt be surprised if they went to a library to rate others badly 50 times over...... or rate themselves on the other hand for a bit of goods.
To the positive , this can be one of the few videos comparable to Virtuoso, who currently lead the ratings by 0.20.

yes, you are a jerk if you don't rate every single video 5/5.

just kidding, this video has the BEST cinematography and editing out of all of them, however the flourishes could've been better, but it still looks great and is one of the videos I'm watching over and over.

can't wait for your guys "Magic Weekend" vidoc , best of luck with the contest.

edit: forgot to add 4/5 from me dogg just short of perfect because of the content, I wish we could rate style and substance separately, you get 5/5 for professional style.
Chris Hestnes says: (Score: 0) 211 days ago
ah, thanks for all the wonderful compliments guys.

Now I guess it's time for the excuses, if anyone cares. First, it was freakin' cold, so most of the stuff was damn hard to execute, for me at least. Damn you, Norway! Second, this edit was meant to be sort of a template for the final video. We planned to do some reshooting of most of the material and throw in some more original stuff, keeping only parts of what you see here, but sadly, due to weather conditions (damn you, Norway, again...) we could not. What the hell, excuses are of no use, this is what it turned out to be.

Ah well, I think it turned out very well though, especially the editing. I've got to thank Allan for being part of this. I couldn't have done it without you, man.

it would be extremely good if u did flourishes in a snow field ^^ how mad would that look on video?
Allan Hagen says: (Score: 0) 210 days ago
Thanks, everyone, indeed, and Chris, for suggesting doing this. I wanted to put my camera and editing work to use somewhere, but I felt I simply didn't have "the skills". Besides, how could I film myself?

So, a collab was the perfect solution.
Thanks for the comments, people.

And Sleight_of_Hand, that is a wonderful idea, ALTHOUGH IT IS SO DAMN FREAKING COLD, that you can execute flourishes in maybe 30 seconds, badly, before you have to re-heat your hands. Unless you have a generator and a hair dryer behind the camera, to heat the person's hands..

I think I'm up for the challenge though. ;) After the Magic Weekend project.

Thank you very much for all of your motivational and inspirational comments. I appreciate it at a lot, and it is this kind of feedback that keeps me doing what I love - filming and editing ,besides the good ol' cards ofcourse.

Regarding the snow project mentioned above - I know this is completely irrelevant, but I have a bunch of ideas and a perfect piece of music to use, so we'll probably end up going through with that.

Also, regarding this video, it is important to know, that this was a web-optimized version, hence the fairly low quality. I did not take into consideration that it would be converted into flash, which is a big let-down for me, but should we happen to win, something I don't consider impossible (nor do I think we will, though), I can render a very high resolution one optimized for the DVD release or whatever needed. Just thought I'd put that down.

Thanks. Can't wait to see who will win. Congratulations in advance to whoever does.
